Er is weer een nieuwe facebook phishing email die de ronde doet. Wederom wordt getracht om inloggegevens van facebook gebruikers te krijgen. Ditmaal door een mail rond te sturen waarin de indruk wordt gewekt dat 'iemand' op facebook vrienden met je wil worden, 'iemand' een commentaar op je status heeft gegeven, of dat 'iemand' op je wall heeft gepost. Daarnaast kun je emails ontvangen die waarschuwen voor een 'phishing scam'. De hele opzet lijkt op die van maart 2011, maar er zijn enkele verschillen.

Momenteel staat Open Source Software (OSS) weer nadrukkelijker op de agenda door de diverse berichten over: Informatiebeveiliging, Business Continuity Planning, Risk Management, Audit maar ook Privacy. Bekend is het feit dat Open Source Software organisaties financiele kansen kan bieden. Echter er zijn ook nog andere mogelijkheden die Open Source Software kan bieden. Deze mogelijkheden zijn onder andere te vinden in; leveranciersonafhankelijkheid en betere audit mogelijkheden. Maar ook in community building, social engagement en privacy van medewerkers en klanten. Wat kan Open Source Software bijdragen aan uw onderneming met betrekking tot Audits, beveiliging en privacy? Geen pleidooi voor Open Source Software maar eens een andere kant van de kubus.

“De beste uitvindingen zijn vaak even simpel als geniaal. Neem nou de paperclip! Of de Post-it notes. Een jaar na lancering uitgeroepen tot outstanding new product. Wat mij betreft verdient het pas-op-de-benzinetank-is-bijna-leeg-lampje ook een plek in de eregalerij. Wat een geruststellend idee, zo’n lichtje op je dashboard. Van het benzinelampje is het een kleine stap naar mijn geesteskind: Bart (business audit & reporting tool). Oké, de techniek achter Bart is iets complexer. Maar de toepassing in de praktijk kan de vergelijking doorstaan.

Zoeven heb ik een 'tag' aangemaakt voor Bart - Business Audit & Reporting Tool. (een product van EurInSol). Het voordeel van deze tag is dat er makkelijker gezocht kan worden op inhoud die met Bart te maken heeft. Zoeken gaat simpel.

Ever since the beginning of EurInSol's development of software, we are using CVS as our Version Control System (VCS) to store our projects. CVS was our choice at the time, since it was mature, stable, documentation of good quality was available  and it was Open Source software. Lately various reasons made me decide to look around for another SCM to store our projects in. One of my candidates, and a very good one, is Fossil. (The reasoning on why I find Fossil a good candidate is subject for another post). 

With a VCS one can record the history of sources files, and documents. When EurInSol is going to change it's repository system, one of the criteria that has to be met is this one: keep the history. So the question for this post is: Can a CVS project be stored into a Fossil repository?

The last 24 hours have been very exiting. Not only for me, but also for the Governance, Risk and Compliancy (GRC) Community as a whole. It started two months ago as a discussion in a group on LinkedIn.com with a request to give feedback to create a freely available list on risk and recommended mitigation. The initial idea was to assemble a list for the benefit of the whole GRC community. There were a lot of subscribers for this idea and a lot of persons were willing to put in some effort to create such a list. However, things got stuck somewhere and it didn't evolve anymore. Until yesterday evening when I decided:

De simpele zoekvraag: "bedrijf op twitter" leverde zoals verwacht vele pagina's met resultaat op. Dit resultaat had natuurlijk best kleiner kunnen zijn als er meer specifiekere zoektermen ingegeven waren. Maar dat was nu net niet de bedoeling. De bedoeling van deze vraag was om enigzins een algemeen beeld te krijgen van het onderwerp, met als doel om te bepalen of Twitter ook voor het bedrijf EurInSol iets zou zijn. Hieronder treft u het relaas aan van deze zoektocht, die misschien ook ng eens een bijdrage kan leveren aan de zoektocht van anderen.

Since I'm the owner of European Information Solutions (EurInSol) I was in the position to incorporate some specific Drupal-related services into our business.

One of the services we provide is Hosting for Drupal Developers. Most developers don't want to 'admin' their servers. They want to develop drupal applications. EurInSol offers them a platform to do so. We manage the servers (hosted in a top datacenter in the Netherlands) and configuration. We manage the servers totaly but we also manage the Drupal configurations.

CCK-fields are more and more used to create the content types needed for sites and applications. They are easy to use and they can be exported and to imported into other sites.

So far, so good. But what if you add a new field to an existing content type and this content type is used in numerous applications and/or modules you wrote? Exporting it from your development code base to all the sites is a tedious work and prone to errors. Especially if you want to stage from development to testing, and from testing to production. Doing this manualy is very cost ineffective because more testing is needed.

Wouldn't it be nice if you could stage the CCK-field in the same way as you do with your other code?
